As hurricane Fiona approached the Dominican Republic and specifically the Eastern portion, where our mission serves, our hearts were heavy and we cried out to the Lord for protection. People gathered to pray. The majority of the housing in Monte Verde is nothing more than metal shacks. Thirty inches of rain fell and the wind was continuous for over 24 hours. When the storm ended we saw that many houses were completely destroyed and people who had so little now had nothing. These Haitian people, who are very accustomed to suffering, began to gather the pieces of their lives. We asked what can we do? We began a cooking operation in Pastora Ada’s church, so that we could be the hands and feet of Jesus to the people during this crises. When people came to get a packaged meal of rice and beans they also received the love of Jesus. We are so thankful that no lives were lost. We believe this was a miracle! Thank YOU for being a part of what God is doing in this community as we bring light to the darkness.

If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. Isaiah 58:10
